Hubbard Creek Plaza Motel: Clean comfortable rooms await you and your guests. Our newly redecorated rooms have king or queen beds, cable TV, telephone and a refrigerator (some have kitchenettes). We are the closest motel to the lake, 5 minutes from Breckenridge and 15 minutes from Albany.

Breckenridge...a thriving West Texas community of almost 8,000 friendly people, is the gateway to Hubbard Creek Lake and a vast range of recreational opportunities. The City has been the county seat of Stephens County since 1858 and was named after John Cabell Breckinridge. The spelling was changed in the 1880s. Breckenridge has a rich Texas history. We invite you to come and experience it for yourself.

Things To Do...When you're not enjoying the fishing at Hubbard Creek Lake, Lake Daniel or the other water activities, take some time to tour Breckenridge. The City has three museums, the Swenson Oil Museum in the Historic old First National Bank building, the Swenson Memorial Museum and the Breckenridge Aviation Museum. An outstanding Fine Arts Center offers  an excellent exhibit area and an annex was recently built to house the Kathryn Leach Doll Collection. There are also several historical markers and houses in the City.

A 9-hole golf course and park with an Aquatic Center, pavilion and swimming pool, plus fields for baseball, soccer, softball and football attracts both the younger ones and adults alike.

Shoppers will enjoy the numerous antique malls, arts and craft centers, and a wide range of clothing stores, sporting goods stores to take care of every recreational need and plenty of restaurants.

Annual Events...in the city that attract visitors are the Breckenridge Open Bass Tournament in April, the Stephens County Frontier Days, Ranch Rodeo and Junior Ranch Rodeo in May, a Fall Fishing Tournament in October and the annual Christmas Parade in early December. The Fandangle held in Albany each June is another event that provides entertainment and a sense of the area's history.

Hunting In Stephens County...area provides some of the best hunting in the state with seasons for whitetail deer, quail doves and turkeys. Feral hogs and squirrels can be hunted year around.

Birding...the bird watcher will enjoy this area for it offers an extensive selection of bird species, from aquatic to migratory. While there are no established nature trails, a pleasant walk by the lake is sure to please the most avid "birder".

Hubbard Creek Lake...This picturesque lake is popular for its bass, catfish and crappie fishing. Boat rentals are available in the area or launch you own at the public boat ramp 4/10th of a mile from the motel. Hubbard Creek Lake is also popular for water skiing and scuba diving. The lake covers 15,250 acres with 100 miles of shoreline.
